How do I choose the right legal form?

Without a question, if you decided to start your own business, you need to register yourself as a self-trader or a company.

There are several legal forms to consider, the main differences are in liability, capital, taxation and maintenance.

You may find more detailed information here . If in doubt, please contact us and we will provide an assessment and help you to make the best choice.

What is a c/o address?

The abbreviation "c/o" (Care of) suggests there is an intermediary before the final addressee receives their correspondence. It also suggests the legal entity does not conduct most of its administrative business by this address.

It is allowed to have a registered c/o address in Switzerland, whereas a PO box is not.

Ref. Art 117 Para. 3 HRegV

This is the most cost effective way to use a Swiss address for your business.

A proper business has its registered office?

Every business must report an address to the Registered Office, at which the registered offices of the company can be contacted.

An own registered office is a location which a legal entity owns or leases and where it conducts most of its administrative business where the receipt of any kind of correspondence is possible.

Both natural and legal persons can hold a registered address.

Ref. Art 117 Para. 3 HRegV

Having a registered office address gives a company a presence in Switzerland and definitely helps to build trust with the clients.
